Mock Exam 1 is designed to be the first full-length exam you attempt. Its job is not to make you feel good — it is to give you an honest baseline. Most candidates who take a full 100-question paper for the first time score somewhere between 45% and 60%, even after finishing a training course. That is normal. The number you get here is the starting point you measure every future study session against.
The exam mirrors the real AAPC CPC exam format: 100 multiple-choice questions with a four-hour limit, open book. The passing mark on the real exam is 70%.
The single biggest mistake candidates make with free mock exams is treating them as a quiz. You lose most of the value that way. Before you press start:

A total score of 62% tells you almost nothing. The domain breakdown tells you everything. Two candidates can both score 62% — one lost marks evenly across all sections, the other passed everything except the 10000 and 20000 surgery series. Those two people need completely different study plans.
After you submit, write down every domain where you scored under 60%. Those are your next two weeks of study. Ignore the domains you already handle; revising what you know is the most comfortable and least useful thing a candidate can do.
Never retake a mock exam you have not reviewed. Reviewing means going through every question you got wrong and every question you guessed correctly, finding the code in your book, and writing one line explaining why the right answer is right. This takes longer than the exam itself. It is also the only part of mock exam practice that reliably raises scores.
A candidate who takes one exam and reviews it properly will outperform a candidate who takes four exams and reviews none of them. Every single time.

Can I pause the timer? No, and you should not want to. Pacing is a skill the exam tests as hard as coding knowledge.
Should I take it before I finish studying? Yes. Take it early and take it cold. You cannot fix weaknesses you have not measured.
How many mock exams should I do in total? Three to five full-length papers, each fully reviewed, is enough for most candidates. More than that usually means you are avoiding the review work.
